How pathology training works in Sweden

Sweden has no central match. You obtain a Swedish medical licence from Socialstyrelsen, then apply for an ST (specialisttjänstgöring) post with a regional employer. Non-EU applicants complete the knowledge test, a practical test, a healthcare law course and a clinical practice period first. Language is the binding constraint, not the post.

What you need

  • Swedish medical licence (legitimation)
  • Swedish to C1
  • Knowledge and practical tests for non-EU
  • Healthcare law course
  • ST employment with a region
